“It’s more important than ever for rural hospitals to proactively understand and address performance in the areas of cost, quality, outcomes and patient perspective. Monitoring performance in these areas requires an industry-wide valid and reliable measurement model that can quantify and then monitor performance over time. iVantage’s INDEX was designed to serve as this industry model.

The INDEX is based on a composite measure of eight pillars of hospital strength: Inpatient Share Ranking, Outpatient Share Ranking, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspectives, and Financial Stability. These pillars are made up of more than 50 individual indicator variables which comprise the “indicator level”. Indicators are also grouped into three categories (the “index level”, used for reporting purposes): Market, Value, and Finance.
The INDEX leverages the most recent publicly available data from CMS. This release includes the most recently available data as of December 2017. All available data are included in the INDEX and statistical sampling and data projection methodologies are employed when necessary. Read the 2018 methodology by clicking the icon below.
